Masala Chai Recipe

Try masala chai, an Indian tea, for a warm, comforting drink with friends or family! It’s made with fresh spices, and you’ll surely delight in its flavorful, rich taste!

Ingredients

Tea Masala (5 mins):

  • ½ inch cinnamon

  • 3-4 green cardamoms

  • 2 cloves

  • 1 peppercorn

  • ½ tsp ginger, crushed

Tea (10 mins):

  • ½ cup water

  • 2 tsp tea leaves

  • 1 ½ cup milk

  • 2 ½ tsp sugar


Directions

Step 1

First, make the tea masala (which will be added to the tea). Add the cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, peppercorn, and ginger into a mortar and pestle, and grind them to make a coarse powder.


Step 2

Heat water in a pot and add the masala spice powder and tea leaves into your water.


Step 3

Boil the mixture for around 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.


Step 4

Pour in milk and sugar.


Step 5

Simmer for about 5 minutes.


Step 6

Pour into a cup or mug and enjoy!
